This is what “no, I do not want my photo taken” looks like. Talley is probably one of our prettiest hounds. Apparently pretty equates with stubborn because that is also one of her strongest traits.
Ten days ago, just ten she was limping. I waited the obligatory 24 hours to make sure it wasn’t a tweak before I hauled her to the vet. She immediately stopped limping the minute the Dr. came out to see her. I felt slightly foolish, but as we talked, I told them to go ahead and do X-rays. It was a cheap piece of mind for me.
The x-rays showed a shadow and it was the same shadow in two different views. It didn’t look like anything normal, and we sent it off to be read by a radiologist anyway. They didn’t see anything, but suggested we x-ray again in about three weeks.
Today she won’t bare any weight on the leg at all.
All I can say is it better not be anything. She’s better be messing with my head. My number one rule is one sick dog at a time. Period.
So, if you have any good connections with the Power of the Paw, I’d appreciate a good word or two. Years ago my vet looked at us and said, “you know, you are going to have a lot of old dogs at one time. Old age is not a disease, but it can get expensive.” Really and truly, I did not blow her off. I understood what she was saying, but it was going to be a long time away.
The long time away has arrived. I’m afraid our ride in paradise is about to get a little bumpy.
