The dog days of summer are here and Talley will celebrate it best. She’s catching the rays.

Look, yet another picture of Minnie.

Yeppers, it is still all about me!

Screechin’ Skirvee Kaddidlehopper

May 7, 2009 Calender, Skirvee Leave a comment

May’s poster boy is none other than screechin’ Skirvee and believe me, he has earned his nickname.

Skirvee had a bad leg as a pup and became a garden hound at 5 months old. He’s a complete nutcase, our biggest dog and a very cool hound, all wrapped up in one.

April’s Child

Blender entered our family as a “foster”. Sadly, my first attempt at fostering failed gloriously.
Blender was shy, very shy, but she picked up family life rather quickly and has enjoyed it ever since.

March’s Calendar Boy

March 30, 2009 Calender, Joey Leave a comment

Joey was calendar boy for March. Sleek and gorgeous, Joey came to us as a “spook” dog. He was scared of his own shadow. If he were a child, he would probably have been labeled as an autistic child, instead, he was just a really shy greyhound.
At the time Joey came up to have the ice cream cone, he had been with us for four years. Not once in that four years did he come this close. He stood close by, but he wouldn’t come near us.
This summer he started showing an active interest in the food we were eating and on a whim I ran to Dairy Queen and bought him a cone. It was a huge success.
Earlier last fall, Joey stood close enough to have his ears scratched. It was probably one of our most joyful moments. 4 1/2 years we waited for that ear scritch and now every day he noses his way through the hounds just to have his ears scratched.
Way To Go Joe!

February’s Pin-up Girl

February 25, 2009 Calender, Flo Leave a comment

The Flo Zone is how we fondly refer to her.
Where ever Flo wants to be, she is. What ever Flo wants, she gets. She is the master at getting her way.
When she wants to sleep with us, she steps onto the bed and plops over on top of me. Gravity eventually brings her back in touch with the bed leaving me a total of six inches to sleep on. Likewise on the couch. I may have a small portion in the corner, but her favorite place to lay is right in my lap.
Her world is the Flo Zone.

Almost a pin-up girl

January 17, 2009 Calender, Lucee Leave a comment

Leaky Lucee the basset didn’t make the calender this year, but she is certainly worthy. Her velvety ears make her a star. Of course, her ears also join her during her meals and her water breaks morphing the velvet to some UCO (unidentified crusty object).

January’s pin-up girl

January 7, 2009 Calender, Roxy Leave a comment

Every year I do a calender, just because I can and with such greyt subjects, how can I go wrong?

January is Foxy Roxy. We adopted Roxy when she was nine years old. She had 75 races under her belt and upon retiring from the track, she settled in to become a mom. 15 babies later, she came home to be our baby.

She is probably one of the sweetest hounds and is just one more great example of why adopting a senior hound is always a good thing.
