Does Texas ever end?

Somedays I have to wonder what we were thinking when we decided to get Timber a surprise. We left Arizona yesterday morning. Drove through New Mexico, which was pretty and then got stuck in some continuos vortex in Texas.

El Paso was huge so we thought we would get breakfast and lunch beyond that. Ummm, nope. Apparently a tornado had wiped out a bunch of power lines and for miles and miles the power was out in towns and rest areas. That also meant no gas for 100s of miles.

Finally stopped in a little town, Ft. Stockton, grabbed some dinner and gas. We also lost two hours with time changes landing us in San Antonio somewhere around midnight.

What on earth were we thinking?
