One day at a time

Roxy

Roxy had a good day today even though it was so beastly hot. She’ll be 15 on Saturday, Sept. 17. Every day is a gift. She has a fabulous appetite, yet she is getting so thin. The swimming lessons have helped her some, but her knees are growing weaker.

I remember when my girls were little, Carter’s clothes had this great tag line: “If they could just stay little ’til their Carter’s wear out.”

I think her Carter’s are starting to wear out.

  1. Looking at her is like looking at Lilac wearing a different fur suit. Her body just can’t keep up, either. I wish I could make her a bubble wrap suit and keep her safe, especially when she tries her new Superman routine of jumping off the top step instead of letting me pick her up. I hope Roxy has a lot of good days left!

  3. She is a beauty. Tom is only 11 and I can’t seem to get any weight on him either. Guess that what happens to the older dogs. Too bad it doesn’t happen that way in humans!

  4. Such a sweet, senior girl. This is the most bittersweet part of being human and understanding what is coming for our furkids.

Denial is so tempting, but I found that consciously embracing each day was more valuable to me.

  5. But look at that big smile on Roxy’s gorgeous face:) She is so happy. She knows how cherished and special she is and she’s making the most of life. I’m sure she’d love liver cake for her birthday:) But you’d probably need to double the recipe so everybody gets some. Here’s hoping for lots more photos of a happy Roxy.
